Memorial Day weekend was spent on John's Creek. It's a family tradition. I grew up being on John's Creek with my family every Memorial Day, then Patrick and I always joined my family, and now that we have our own land on John's Creek we take our own little family every year. We spend time on my parents land, time on our land and Patrick's family has started joining us each year as well. It's a known fact that if it's Memorial Day Weekend....we are on John's Creek in Craig County. The weather was beautiful! The water was cold, but that didn't stop the creek stompin'.
Here is our weekend in pictures:
Audrey with the first fish she caught of the weekend. A big 'ol sucker. She is becoming quite the little angler! ;)
Playing on the quilt. I always pack a few toys and a nice big quilt.Lots of buttercups were picked and given with love. I showed her the buttercup under the chin trick. I remember doing that as a little girl on the playground at school.
Laying on our backs in the grass looking up at one of the huge maples. I have always loved looking at the underside of leaves and the sun shining through the branches.
Tessa thought she should crawl on me since I was laying on my back and didn't have a child on top of me. "Let me fix that Mama, you need one of us on top of you all the time".
Stomping, jumping, splashing, rock collecting in icy creek water.
Patrick checking out trees that the recent heavy rains brought down.
Looks like a good place to sit.
Four Wheeler rides are always fun. Audrey held tight to Ghee.
Tessa did not ride....next year she will. But it was a good photo op.
Daddy fished with his girls for a while.
Playing inside Ghee and Papa's camper.
Audrey enjoyed having the dogs in the minivan. It was their first time riding in the van. Loving the extra room in the van!
Tessa and I hanging out by the campfire.
Daddy with his girls....they were heading to do a little more fishing when I stopped them for a quick picture. Tessa is quickly becoming pretty attached to her Daddy...just like big sis.
Audrey got her hair french braided by Gigi. That is a must when we have enough time with Gigi...she is an excellent french braider!
Swinging on the porch swing hanging from one of the Maples.
Tubing down the creek.....brrrr.
Playing with Gigi in the water....lots of "watering the flowers" going on here.
Tessa LOVED the creek...I didn't put her in her swimsuit because the water was cold and I carried her into the creek to the island in the bjorn ( sidenote: she is way to heavy for the bjorn!). She and I were both quickly ready to get her out of the bjorn and she loved the water. She splashed, stomped and got good and wet!
