38 weeks

2 weeks and counting! This little girl is getting big! My belly seems to have taken on a life of it's own and it moves as she moves. Her movements are beginning to make me a bit uncomfortable now that she is putting on weight and pressing into my insides pretty heavily. She is producing more surfactant now, which will help prevent the air sacs in her lungs from sticking together when she begins to breathe....which will be happening VERY soon!

I have begun to suffer from some of the last few weeks of pregnancy ailments many women have at this stage. After being on my feet at school all day, my ankles are swollen beyond recongnition. We jokingly call them kankles! The baby has set up residence on a nerve leaving the fingers on my right hand numb at ALL times for the last week and sending some sharp pains down my inner thigh every once in a while. Needless to say I am pretty ready to have her, but I'm hanging in there. I recieved my H1N1 vaccine last week and I am feeling much more protected now. Having had the vaccine will also pass some immunity on to the baby for a few weeks after birth. I am looking a little rough in this bump shot, but it's an early morning picture, so you must forgive me!:) As you can tell....the bump is BIG!!! I go back to the doctor tomorrow and will update you all on the progress...fingers crossed!
