We had a BUSY, FULL and FUN weekend! We went to the Strawberry Festival at Elmwood Park on Saturday morning. It was a little drizzly, but we had fun eating strawberry sundaes and smoothies, dancing a little to some music and having lunch on the market.
Audrey ate every last bite of this!
Mommy and Audrey! We were matchy in red to match the strawberries. I'm 29 week pregnant with my second girl here!
Mom trying to get a good picture of Audrey and I together, while my Dad does his best to keep us dry.
Audrey all decked out in her strawberry outfit. This is a hand-me-down from her best buddy Vivian. How cute is she!?
On Sunday morning, we got up, had breakfast, loaded up and headed to our land in Craig County, for our first day of the spring/summer season on the land. We spent the day fishing, eating a picnic lunch I packed, reading books in the sun, creek stomping and looking for interesting rocks in the water, and using Audrey's new binoculars (thanks GiGi) to be "nature trackers" and look for bugs.
Audrey reeled in her first fish by herself. Daddy helped here and there, but she held the pole and turned the reel by herself quite a bit. Each fish caught is totally exciting for her, and let's face it.....for all of us.:) It was the perfect weather day and the ride over the mountain was lovely.
Daddy and Audrey creek stomping and hanging out on the "island". I ventured out there too, but left the camera on the creek bank. Audrey filled her bucket with her favorite rocks to sort out on the table when we got out.
Patrick found and caught a salamander for us to look at. The dogs were in heaven, as usual on John's Creek. They swam, ran, and relaxed, just like us. Spending a day there is good for the soul. It's quiet. There is nobody to answer to, no schedule and no "plans". We just hang out. It's perfection!
On the way home, we stopped at The Homeplace for dinner. Oh, The Homeplace. It never fails to be good. We knew we'd wait a while, so during out long wait to be seated for the best dinner ever, we spent time reading a few books to Audrey, throwing frisbee a little, picking buttercups, oh, and looking at these guys! Before dinner they were off in the field further away, but after we came out of the restaurant, they were right at the fence by our truck. Audrey loves them!
It was a fun weekend. It made me long for summer. I have 5 more weeks of school before a nice long break with my hubby, my girl and really....GIRLS! Wow! Come on summer! I'm ready for you and all you will bring to our family.
