The sky is falling!

We're all familiar with the story of Chicken Little. A few months ago, at my school book fair, I bought Audrey this rather hilarious version of the story. It teases and pokes fun of the "witless, bird brains" that are Chicken Little, Henny Penny, Goosey Loosey, Duckey Luckey, and Turkey Lurkey. Audrey totally gets it and it's currently one of her favorite books. She sits through the whole book, laughing at appropriate places in the book and loves saying the silly names of the "birdies", as she calls them. Then we get to the last two pages, where the flock runs into Foxy Loxy! They step into the warm dark cave that is his mouth and they start saying "pheeew", "oh no!", and "finally "UH OH!". This is where Audrey gets the most worried look on her face and tears up and gets really worried about her feathered friends! I quickly turn the page, and exclaim, "AHHHHHHH CHOOOOOO", and Foxy Loxy sneezes and all the birds run out of his mouth safely. She looks at that page for a few moments and I remind her that they're all ok and they got away. Then she's fine and moves on to the next book to read.
She knows how the book is going to turn out and what's going to happen, but she still feels such concern for the birds in the book. She's such a tender hearted little girl. She has such a good heart.
