Patrick and I are certain that Audrey will be independently mobile sooner rather than later. She is so active in our laps right now that we can hardly contain her. She wiggles, lunges, flips, bounces, grabs, pulls up and throws herself everywhere! She will jump right out of your arms if you're not careful. It's fun and tiring at the same time!:)
She is trying to sit up from a laying position now, so before too long, her crib mattress will have to be lowered.
She is trying so hard and still gets a little frustrated that she can't crawl, but she is getting a little closer everyday. It won't be long now.
She can and LOVES to stand up holding onto something. I will stand her up next to her nightstand or her dresser with a drawer pulled out a little and she will stand there so proudly.
She makes the effort and with a little help succeeds at pulling herself up onto her knees and feet!
I walked at 9 months, so she could be well on her way. I have started thinking about child proofing and let me tell you...it's a big job! I have plugged a few outlets for now and will be making a whole house "sweep and secure" effort as soon as school's out...unless I have to do it sooner. She wants to go go go and for her, I want that, but for me....I want my baby to stay in my lap a bit longer. Can you blame me!?
Her vocabulary is also expanding and she now says....
Dada
Mama
BaBa
RRRR
and occasionally Bye, along with other indecipherable sounds, squeals and noises that we sometimes try to pull meaning out of.
She has intensive conversations with the dogs and sometimes will mimic noises and sounds we make. It's so fun to interact with her and she gets oohed and ahhed over, everywhere we go.
Audrey's current favorite things to play with are spatulas and her socks. She loves for us to stack things up for her so she can knock them over and she is endlessly fascinated by paper and phones. We are working on teaching her that not all things she is allowed to hold are allowed to go in her mouth. She is a smart cookie and is usually a good listener!:)
