An exciting visit!

Well, I saw my doctor yesterday for my 36 week appointment and I have much to report. It was the beginning of my now weekly appointments and they checked me for any progress towards labor. I am 1 cm dilated and 60 % effaced! Although I am still quite a ways off, that is progress in the right direction for sure. He said the babies head was low and engaged, meaning she is in the correct position for birth and he feels certain she's low enough that she's not going to dislodge herself from that position before "labor day". I measured right on at 36 cm....so that is perfect. (Usually your uterus[top of the fundus to top of the pelvic bone] measures the same number of centimeters as weeks you are pregnant.)
My doctor is estimating that our baby girl is right at 5 1/4 pounds!
I had gained 2 pounds, which is perfect since he says a pound a week, and my blood pressure was also great. I got my seasonal flu shot there in the office yesterday, so I feel a bit more protected from all the sick children around me at school these days. Although, I doubt my slight OCD about hand washing and lysoling everything will let up!

We enjoyed our birthing class on Monday night, and are truly starting to feel prepared for this dynamic process we will be going through in a few weeks. Patrick is going to be a great coach. While we are both aware that it will be all me having this baby, he is learning lots of ways to help me relax, focus, breath, and I am so thankful I will have him with me. I mean, hey, we got ourselves pregnant together and we are going to make ourselves parents together. It's hard to believe it's so close...where has the time gone?
